6 Styling Tips for Petite Girls

Hey guys! If you don’t know already, I’m only around 158cm. I may not be able to change that fact, but I can pick out outfits that change the way I appear by knowing what not to wear. I’ve listed alternatives of what to avoid when it comes to shopping & picking my outfits:

  1. TURTLE NECKS instead of OVERSIZED SWEATERS

Sweaters are perfect to fight the cold with style, but baggy and long ones are a no-go for us!

  1. PLATFORM HEELS instead of ANKLE STRAP HEELS

Thankfully, we don’t have to worry about being taller than our dates with heels on. But, we have to be smart in picking heels that will elongate our legs, not the opposite. Ankle strap heels they tend to make our legs look shorter, so it should be avoided especially if it’s paired with a short dress. They’ll transform your look, but importantly, they’re more comfortable too!

  1. SKINNY JEANS instead of BOYFRIEND JEANS

Again, boyfriend jeans give off the baggy and loose vibe. In general, it will make us appear smaller or shorter. Unless you’re going for a chill afternoon look, fitted skinny jeans/leggings is the best option for us!

  1. SHORT FITTING TOPS instead of  TUNIC TOPSScreen Shot 2016-11-16 at 2.44.36 pm.png

Tunic tops look elegant and fitting when you’re tall, but I think it lengthens petite sized upper body and shrinks our legs. To maximize your height, any midriff tanks or tops would be a better alternative.

  1. BOOTIES instead of MID-CALF BOOTS

Unfortunately long sexy and elegant boots just look unflattering for our legs. Dainty ankle boots with a little boost of height will not only make you appear taller overall, but also with slimmer and longer legs.

  1. SKIRTS instead of BURMUDA SHORTS

Not for us! We get away with wearing shorter shorts, so why not show a little more skin? If not, a tight fitted skirt will do too!

As much as I want to love some of the items above, my experiences have made me realize that other options create a better result for me. However, these are just personal opinions but let me know your thoughts and whether it was helpful for in the comments below J

Thanks for stopping by!

XOXO

TOP 3 MUST HAVE MASK

I have tried many different brands of masks to either hydrate, exfoliate or replenish my skin. However, some are definitely more effective than others. My three top picks each acts differently to improve skin.  But, some of you may favour one over the other depending on your skin type. They’ve been a necessity for me ever since I first tried it, give it a try!

1. FRESH – UMBRIAN CLAY MASK

Amazing clay mask that helps to exfoliate, deep cleanse and purify your skin. Not only that, but it can treat small imperfections such as acne scars. Feels great for me to use right before I head to bed as it only takes around few minutes to dry. Can be used few times a week.

2. FRESH – ROSE MASK

Rose infused gel mask that helps moisturise and replenish the skin greatly. Overall, it gives me an amazing radiance and glow, while leaving the skin soft and protected. Can be used daily!

3. SOULMATE & CO – JOHANN BACH

This one may not be as famous, but an absolute gem! Originated from England and could be purchased online. It is by far the best hydration mask I have used. Not only does it moisturise the skin greatly, but also creates a soft, healthy and luminous effect on the skin. It fixes imperfections and creates a flourishing feel. Takes around 20 minutes to absorb. Must try!

LONG WEEKEND IN HAWAII – HONOLULU

Recently, I travelled to Honolulu for a long weekend from Vancouver. When I visited in mid October, there was light drizzle of rain on and off throughout each day, but when the sun is out it’s nice and warm. Here are the places I was able to check off my list:

1. WESTIN MOANA SURFRIDER

This was the hotel I stayed at located on Waikiki beach. Although it was quite packed with people during the day, the beach was incredibly beautiful with white sand and clear water. Even if you’re not planning to stay at here, be sure to drop by for their famous buffet breakfast with a stunning view!

2. HANAUMA BAY

Formed from a volcanic cone, this is a popular tourist attraction located in a natural preserve park. It is a must-go if you enjoy snorkelling or simply a nice beach. When I visited the water was somewhat murky because of the rainy and windy weather , but I was still able to see the a diverse groups of corals and marine life.

3. Ono Seafood

What’s a trip to Hawaii without some fresh poke, am I right? Authentic Ahi Tuna + Tako poke is the perfect lunch option to indulge while sitting at the beach. The brown rice and rich marinated seafood complimented very well with each other, although it was slightly spicier than expected. Nonetheless, definitely worth the trip!

4. EGGS N’ THINGS

I first tried this famous brunch place in Tokyo, but I had to give it a try here since it first opened in Honolulu. The place is always bustling with a line, so try to get there early to avoid a long wait! When you’re here, don’t miss out the buttermilk pancakes with whip cream and additional toppings. The smoothies and acai bowls was also tempting, but I was too full to give them a try!

Let me know your experiences & what I missed out!
